Why the name Tigris?

I chose the name after Panthera Tigris to reflect my interest in conservation, particularly of big cats.

Panthera Tigris: Over the last century wild tiger numbers have plummeted by over 95%. As few as 3,900 tigers remained in the wild when I founded Tigris and in 2010 only 3200 individuals were recorded. A global initiative to increase these numbers is now clearly working and in 2025 over 5500 have been reported, but there is still work to be done, the tiger is officially classed as endangered by the IUCN. (extract from WWF website).

Even with increasing numbers, there are more tigers in captivity in the US than are left in the wild
